My
name is Jeffrey (Jeff) Daggers. I am a self taught artist living in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, UK.
I have been painting for over 20 years, my style
of painting is best described as surrealistic with an underlying
reference to humour or absurdity. My preferred medium being oil on canvas board,
the subject matters being varied which gives me the stimulus of a challenge
with each new work undertaken.
My interest in art has its roots in my
childhood when I would sketch my fantasies, and in so doing began to acquire
the skills which gave me the confidence to tackle more imaginative concepts
later on in life . Throughout my youth I would sketch but never received any
formal tuition and it remained a hobby. It was during a visit with my young son
to the RAF museum in Hendon, London that I came across the works of the artist
Terence Cuneo and other fine artists, and was much impressed with the works
exhibited. I decided I would try my hand at painting. After a trial
period of study on how to handle the mediums I set out to paint. My early works
began with realistic studies by which I continued to familiarise myself with
the mediums, after a time this was lacking as a challenge and I eventually
turned to my own imagination to satisfy my creative urge.
